Privacy Policy

This policy explains how EconOdyssey (“we”, “us”) handles personal data when you visit econodyssey.com or sign up for our newsletter. We follow Malaysia’s Personal Data Protection Act 2010 and, for readers in the European Union and United Kingdom, the GDPR.

What we collect

• Newsletter: your email address and, if you give it, your name, plus the date you signed up and confirmed. We use this only to send you the newsletter.
• Website logs and security: our host and our security software record technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to keep the site running and protect it from attacks.
• Messages: if you email us, we keep your message and address to reply.

Cookies and embedded videos

Our documentaries are YouTube videos. The YouTube player only loads when you press play, and it loads in YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode. Once you press play, YouTube (Google) may set cookies under its own privacy policy.

We may add website analytics and advertising (for example Google Analytics and Google AdSense). If we do, we will update this policy before they go live and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent first.

Who processes your data for us

• Hostinger: website hosting (servers in Malaysia, backups in Singapore).
• MailPoet: our newsletter system, which runs on our own website.
• Cloudflare: our domain name service.

We do not sell your personal data.

How long we keep it

Newsletter details are kept until you unsubscribe; then we delete them, except where we must keep a record of your unsubscribe. Server and security logs are kept for a limited time, usually no more than 90 days.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal data we hold about you, or object to how we use it. Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link. For any privacy request, email admin@econodyssey.com and we will reply within 30 days.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page.
